My understanding is the generic JWT ecus are pretty conservative with spark advance (Ash says 18 degrees at the top of the JWT) and fuel (rich), they run this same conservative tune in both the standard and saftey maps. Ash's tune may be a bit more aggressive with timing and fuel, but I think has an even safter saftey map. Personally, I like conservative, but I also like to get a good deal. When people ask me what generic ECU they should get I recommend the Ash "C" tune for the price. JWT is fine too, its just a bit more expensive new. My car came with a stillen/JWT and I have always been happy with it. Bottom line if you are really concerened (I don't think you have reason to be) with minimal effort you can ask ash about switching to a C tune or simply sell your Ash ECU and get a JWT if it makes you feel safe when you sleep at night. If you REALLY care you shouldn't run just a generic ECU anyway, add a used SAFCI(120 on ebay) or new SAFCII(280 on ebay), and buy an hour of dyno time with an Wideband o2, and KNOW what you A/F looks like. If you are hardcore a custom ECU tune via ZEMulator or simply an eprom burner and rom editor is the best way to control everything (inlcluding the spark advance), but the more varibles you introduce / control the more careful you have to be....
